Paramount debuted the first Sonic The Hedgehog 2 trailer during The Game Awards 2021 and announced the movie's release date. Sonic The Hedgehog 2 releases April 8, 2022, in theaters and features some familiar faces, but not quite as you remember them.
Jim Carrey is back as the nefarious Dr. Eggman, and this time, he's got more than one attack planned on the Blue Blur. Eggman seeks the Chaos Emeralds, but he's got another surprise in store: Knuckles the Echidna, voiced by Idris Elba. You may know Knuckles as a friendly character, but in Sonic The Hedgehog 2, he's Eggman's secret weapon.
Lucky for Sonic, he's got a friend as well: Miles Tails Prower.
