All Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart Voice Actors

The full cast of voice actors for Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is pretty huge, so we’ve condensed it to all the main cast and characters, heroes and villains alike. If any of the big voices sound familiar to you, it might be one of the following:

Rift Apart Cast

  • Rivet - Jennifer Hale
  • Ratchet - James Arnold Taylor
  • Clank - David Kaye
  • Kit - Debra Wilson
  • Dr. Nefarious - Armin Shimmerman
  • Emperor Nefarious - Robin Atkin Downes
  • Captain Qwark - Scott Whyte

Rivet: Jennifer Hale

Series newcomer Rivet is played by veteran voice actor Jennifer Hale, perhaps best known in gaming as the female voice of Shepherd , as well as Ashe from Overwatch, villain Kronika from Mortal Kombat 11, and Maria Hill in Marvel’s Avengers. She’s also got no shortage of appearances in animation, ranging from Ducktales to the Powerpuff Girls and many more besides. She’s a very accomplished actor with a great range, and she’s clearly bringing her utmost to the character of Rivet.

Ratchet: James Arnold Taylor

James Arnold Taylor has been the voice of series icon Ratchet since the beginning, way back in the early 2000s, but his filmography goes a lot deeper than that. He’s put his voice to numerous video games and animated shows, with his wide range and declarative tone often putting him in film adaptations and superhero stories.

A host of talented voice actors comes together for new and old characters alike.

Clank: David Kaye

Alongside Taylor, David Kaye returns as the lovable co-hero Clank, the diminutive, thoughtful robot who provides the voice of reason to counter Ratchet’s more outgoing personality. Kaye has a whole range of credits behind him, including other video games, english dubs of anime, animated TV (especially in the Transformers franchise), and even does all the narration for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver! If the powerful voice that links the sections of the show sounds familiar to you, that’s Kaye at work.

Kit: Debra Wilson

Kit is the second newcomer to the series (at least on the heroes’ side), playing the nervous-but-good-hearted sidekick to both Ratchet and Rivet on different occasions. Debra Wilson plays her well, a performance embolstered by over two decades of experience both as a screen and voice actor. She’s leant her voice to animated films like Over the Hedge, recently played jaded Jedi tutor Cere Junda in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and has even had roles in numerous Call of Duty games.

Dr. Nefarious: Armin Shimmerman

On the other end of the moral spectrum, the game’s first villain, cackling crook Dr. Nefarious, is played by none other than Armin Shimmerman, easily most-well-known for playing the morally-ambiguous bartender Quark in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Shimmerman also played the legendary villain Andrew Ryan in the Bioshock games, and has been voicing Nefarious since the character first debuted in Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. No really, that's what it was called.

The new villain Emperor Nefarious gets his classically-evil voice from actor Robin Atkin Downes.

Emperor Nefarious: Robin Atkin Downes

In contrast to Dr. Nefarious’ shrieking, harsh voice, supervillain Emperor Nefarious is played with cold, cool (and very British) tones by Robin Atkin Downes. Downes has voice work on a number of blockbuster movies, including Rogue One, Batman Vs Superman and Pirates of the Caribbean. He’s also a video game staple, having been in multiple Uncharted games, Miller in Metal Gear, the TF2 Medic, and the title character in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.

Captain Qwark: Scott Whyte

Finally, fan favourite Captain Qwark is played for the first time here by voice actor Scott Whyte, as the actor usually chosen to fill Qwark’s jumpsuit, Jim Ward, was unable to fulfill the role after serious health issues. The captain’s role in Rift Apart is nonetheless smaller than it was in the previous game, and Whyte does a superb job of recreating the energy and car-salesman charisma that Ward brought to the character originally. White is a screen and voice actor who’s been particularly tied to PlayStation titles recently, with appearances in Miles Morales, Death Stranding, Days Gone and God of War (2018).

That’s the main cast of Rift Apart accounted for, but there’s plenty more info for you to find! All the guides you’d ever need on how to play the game are waiting for you right here, or check out our review of the game here!
