Pokemon Sword and Shield: How To Trade With Friends In Person And Online

The Crown Tundra, the final expansion for Pokemon Sword and Shield, is out now.

With multiple Pokemon available on both Sword and Shield's versions of the island, trading is just as important as ever.

Here's how to trade with your friends.

How To Trade Pokemon With Friends In Sword and Shield In Person

Head into your Y-Comm menu, and then select "Link Trade" and "Start Trading".

As long as your friend is connected to the same network, you'll be able to find them on that network, but you can set a Link Code to ensure the trade is secure.

How To Trade Pokemon With Friends In Sword and Shield Online

Trading Pokemon online requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership, so be sure to sign up if you haven't already.

Once that's done, open your Y-Comm menu and press the "+" button to connect to the online services.

Select "Link Trade" and "Start Trading", then set your four-digit link code that you pass to your friend.
