Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the upcoming Gen 4 remakes, will add a series of new features that were not found in the original titles.
While character customisation through new outfits is new, returning players will still be able to tailor Pokéball effects for summoning their chosen critters, while new Pokémon Hideaways make their debut.
Pokémon will also now be able to follow players out in the overworld.

In the upcoming remake, players will be able to customise their avatar with new outfit options. Pokéballs can be customised more vividly than in the original titles, too. Add stickers and new effects like confetti or fireworks for when you go into battle.
The Grand Underground, which spans the subterranean length of the Sinnoh region, will allow players to dig for fossils as well as carve out their own secret base which can be filled with Pokémon statues. Fans of the original Diamond and Pearl will remember this, but there are some new additions, too.
The statues placed in your secret base will determine which Pokemon appear in the new Pokemon Hideaways found underground. Some Pokemon can only be found in Pokemon Hideaways, and will appear in the overworld in a manner similar to Pokemon Let's Go.
Super Contest Shows allow your Pokémon to stretch their legs outside of their Pokéball as they engage in rhythm-based dance gameplay.
Speaking of, partner Pokémon will be able to follow their trainers, too.
Finally, the Union Room returns and will offer a 'one stop shop' for multiplayer interactions. Here, players can trade locally or online, while battles are also available, too.
