Pokémon Unite Squads - How to Create and Join Squads

Pokémon Unite Squads are a new addition to the game that coincided with the game's mobile release on September 22. You can check out every change in the Pokémon Unite patch notes, but for the lowdown on Squads in particular, you're in the right place.

Squads are pretty easy to get your head around - they're a place where you and your regular teammates can get together and group up. If you've been trying to climb the Pokémon Unite ranked ladder on your own, you'll know the struggles of the solo queue, and Squads could be the ultimate antidote.

Here's everything you need to know about Pokémon Unite Squads, how to create and join them, and what tags you want to use.

How to Create a Pokémon Unite Squad

The process for creating a Pokémon Unite Squad is simple:

  • Click on your profile picture in the top left of the main menu screen
  • Select 'Unite Squad'
  • Select 'Create Unite Squad'

Now you just need to enter your Squad details to set it all up.

Simple, enter your Squad name. It's likely anything profane will be banned, so play nice.

Unite Squad Description

This section is useful for explaining how often you play and how hard you grind.

Squad Tags

You can also use Squad Tags to narrow down the players who are joining your Squad. You can show that your group is beginner-friendly or seasoned vets, let people know your continental location to sync time zones, or dictate what rank a player needs to be in order to be accepted. You're allowed to use up to three tags for your Squad.

Join Restrictions

Here you can choose whether your Squad is open to all players, or whether approval is required - so you need to accept potential squadmates.

You can have up to 30 players in a squad, giving you the ability to chat with each other to arrange battles and the like.

How to Join a Pokémon Unite Squad

It's a very similar process to join a Pokémon Unite Squad:

  • Click on your profile picture in the top left of the main menu screen
  • Select 'Unite Squad'
  • Select 'Join Unite Squad'

From there you can search by either team name, Unite ID, or by tags. The two former options are great if you're looking for a specific Squad - if your friend has given you their Squad's ID or something - but searching by tag might find you a group of random people that match your skill level and commitment.

If the Squad has its Join Restrictions set to Approval Required, then you'll have to wait for the Squad Leader to accept your request.

That's everything you need to know about creating and joining Squads in Pokémon Unite! Now all that's left to do is think up a good team name...
