Garena Free Fire or PUBG Mobile: Which is better?

PUBG Mobile has grown exponentially this year with over 400 million users reported in July.

PUBG is known as one of the canonical giants of the Battle Royale scene, and many of the big Battle Royale titles that followed have used PUBG as a blueprint for their success.

In just one year, it managed to garner a cult following that elevated the game to the god tier of gaming titles.

Garena Free Fire, the new kid on the block, is a Battle Royale that introduced a whole demographic of Indian gamers to the genre, and subsequently to PUBG.

While PUBG can be considered as the founding father, Free Fire should be seen as the missionary that brought a disconnected community of gamers closer together.

Each game has a distinct visual style and adds its own flair to the gameplay, with PUBG feeling a lot more life-like, and Free Fire offering smoother gameplay and a better gaming experience.

Basic Differences Between the Two Games

Both games follow the same principles: a group jumps from a plane into a battleground and fight it out to the death.

You can customize your character with cosmetics in Free Fire, as well as nifty abilities like faster reload times and quicker health regeneration.

PUBG is more of a war game; it also has better anti-cheat systems and a wide variety of map choices.

This includes snow, jungle, desert and Moon-based maps.

Which Game has Better Weapons?

PUBG Mobile certainly has a better collection of weapons, featuring nearly 40 weapons across the categories:

  • Assault Rifles
  • Submachine Guns
  • Shotguns
  • Snipers
  • Pistols
  • Explosives

Free Fire of course offers a similar choice of weapons, but with much less of a variety.

Most guns in Free Fire seem alike, which is a problem for gamers seeking a more detailed Battle Royale experience.

Furthermore, shooting at enemies in Free Fire will remind players of mobile Zombie-shooters, while harder-earned kills in PUBG are much more satisfying.

So Which Game is Better?

If you want to play a quicker game with non-stop action and characters with unique personalities, Free Fire is the game for you.

The video-game vibe and lack of doors (amongst a host of other differences) set this Battle Royale apart from its opposition.

Those who consider themselves more of a tactical player, searching for a more life-like experience - go for PUBG Mobile.

It is all about personal preference.
