After fifteen years of changing mobile and indie gaming forever, World of Goo 2 is not only real, but just around the corner.

The long-awaited sequel to the iconic mobile game, World of Goo 2 reunites the teams behind the original game for the first ever true sequel to the sticky puzzle game, one of the best indie games of all time.

Coming sometime in 2024, the new game reunites the teams at 2D Boy and the Tomorrow Corporation to bring a host of new puzzles to the series. Of course, early levels will still revolve around connecting your sticky goo fiends to make bridges and the like, but later stages will completely transform the experience.

A post on the game’s website, the team behind the game explain that it’s the “biggest” game they’ve made. After 15 years, the team explains that they can fit a lot more in one title than they could’ve ever imagined when the original title came out.

While the developers have yet to reveal what platforms the game will be released on, the team said: “let the vast expanse of uncertainty fill our hearts with wonder, while we fill our bank accounts with exclusive distribution contracts.” Xbox Game Pass, maybe?

Just like the original, the developers are hoping that the new sequel will be translated into many languages for players to enjoy all over the world. For those who want to help, the team has a contact form here that fans can fill out right here.

World of Goo 2 has been a very long time coming for fans of the puzzle series. Hopefully, the title will be just as monumental as the original when it finally releases next year.
