Fans of Warzone's ranked mode have blasted the battle royale's unbalanced matchmaking system.

Season 2 of the latest Call of Duty cycle saw the arrival of Ranked Resurgence, a fast-paced iteration of the standard battle royale mode that takes place on the Fortune's Keep map. As with most Warzone modes, the objective is to become the last player standing and earn enough SR to climb up the ranks towards the top 250.

Thanks to the ranked system, matchmaking is hugely important but many are growing tired of running into top-ranked squads when they're several divisions below them.

To raise awareness of the issue, Reddit user Im_DuBoss thinks Raven Software needs to investigate matchmaking and make changes before the balancing becomes even worse.

"Matchmaking needs to be looked at," says the fan. "I am currently gold 3 and in my last five ranked games, I've played against three different triple-stacked top 250 teams." Based on the comments, others aren't best pleased with how Warzone fills its ranked lobbies. Another adds: "Ranked is a joke in this game. They prioritise queue times over all else."

While the current system isn't generating positive feedback, one player reveals the lack of balance is intentional from Raven Software. They say: "They said the initial rollout will have incredibly lax matchmaking otherwise it will be impossible for people to reach the top 250 early."

Raven Software often acknowledges the feedback of Warzone players, meaning there's a chance Warzone ranked matchmaking is adjusted further down the line. Season 2 Reloaded is the next major update where the developer can apply changes to ensure lesser-skilled players aren't encountering the best in the world regularly and spending most of a match staring at the Resurgence timer counting down to zero.

For now, be prepared to find a diverse skill level in every Warzone ranked match until changes are made to tighten the spread and level the playing field.
