Warner Bros’ delisted Smash Bros clone Multiversus is seemingly making a comeback in early 2024. After months of being removed from stores, the light fighting game is coming back to consoles and PC.

Combining the likes of DC, Game of Thrones, Scooby Doo and more, Multiversus was a fun enough free-to-play Smash clone. However, the game was removed from stores in March 2023 and made unplayable.

However, it seems that Multiversus is making its return in early 2024. Following a resurgence of the game’s social media presence, fans are certain that the fighting game will be making its return in the new year.

Fans of the fighting game noticed that the game’s Twitter account recently removed its previously pinned tweet regarding the game’s Season 2 update. Players also noticed that Rockstar Games did the same thing on its GTA accounts just weeks before releasing the long-awaited trailer for GTA 6.

Alongside this, an official Multiversus account was created on Threads, Instagram’s Twitter competitor. With a resurgence in social media activity just before Christmas, it seems that a January or February relaunch for Multiversus is on the horizon.

Alongside the game’s new social media activity, recent updates to the game’s Steam database entries shows that something is happening with the fighting game. In a recent update, three new achievement languages were added for Japanese, Korean and Chinese players.

On Reddit, fans of the fighting game believe that Multiversus’ relaunch will also include Asian servers for the first time. When the game originally launched, only American and European servers were active, limiting the game’s worldwide reach.

When Multiversus initially launched, the game was loved by its small community of hardcore fans but was largely ignored by the majority of gamers. With a small content offering and cheap-looking visuals, Multiversus needed a lot of extra dev time to be something truly great.

With almost a year of extra work taking place since the game’s delisting, Multiversus 2.0 could be the boost the game needs. On the other hand, the game’s delisting could do more harm than good.
