Star Wars Outlaws release date accidentally leaked by Ubisoft Japan

Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Star Wars Outlaws is coming out later this year on August 30, as the release date was accidentally leaked by the game’s YouTube premiere page. The release date would have been revealed with the open-world title’s Story Trailer, which is going to premiere very soon.

Gematsu discovered that the Outlaws release date was accidentally revealed by the YouTube premiere page, specifically, by Ubisoft Japan. Fans can expect more details on the game later on, but now they know when this exciting open-world game is coming to current-gen systems.

Prior to the game’s release date, Ubisoft did say that they had plans to release Star Wars Outlaws in 2024. Now we know that it will be coming a bit later this year, so fans have time to finish whatever game they were/are playing.

Outlaws is going to be the franchise’s first open-world game, letting players explore plenty of planets and do whatever they please. Many fans are expecting the game to be GTA or Red Dead Redemption 2 in space, though any Star Wars fan knows it will be both. The beauty of this franchise is that it can work with pretty much any theme writers can come up with.

There hasn’t been a lot revealed about Star Wars Outlaws, though fans know that it's set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Since the game is following the franchise’s continuity, it will be interesting to see if players encounter Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia.

Despite the franchise getting overexposed by Disney over the past few years, the video games have been well liked by fans. Both Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor have received a ton of praise, with many hoping Cal Kestis appears in Outlaws. Only time will tell if that will happen, though the game does look promising.

Star Wars Outlaws will be coming out on August 30 for PS5, Xbox Series systems, and PC.
