It looks like the Star Wars: KOTOR remake is somehow not dead yet, as developer Saber Interactive looks to leave Embracer Group. Before this, many assumed that the game would be stuck in development hell before eventually getting canceled, but The Force might be strong with this one.

According to Bloomberg (via PlayStation Lifestyle), Saber Interactive is set to be sold to a group of private investors for $500 million. This purchase will also allow Saber Interactive to bring many Embracer subsidiaries with them, which should help with the game’s development.

Embracer has been canceling games after realizing that buying too many companies was taking a toll, with Deus Ex and Timesplitters being some of the publisher’s victims. The company also attempted to make a big play with their acquisition of the Lord of the Rings IP, but that hope was lost after Gollum was released.

Many fans had assumed we wouldn’t see the Star Wars: KOTOR remake anymore, as the game has gone through a ton since it was first revealed. Sony de-listed the game’s trailer from their State of Play, claiming that it was due to music issues. Aspyr Media was also supposed to develop the game before their build was deemed unplayable, with Saber Interactive picking up the slack.

When fans first saw the KOTOR remake, they were excited with what they saw and couldn’t wait to see what the gameplay would be like. However, the game would constantly get hit with issues, from the aforementioned change in developers and even getting its trailer removed. Even with everything going against it, it was constantly stated that the remake would not be canceled, likely due to the Star Wars license.
