Shroud, Tarik, and iiTzTimmy invest in new PvP shooter from ex-Apex devs

Mountaintop Studios has announced a round of angel investors for their brand-new tactical shooter game, with the currently unnamed project receiving another $30 million in funding. With the fully remote studio keen to usher in a new era of genre-evolving FPS, they've bagged some huge names in the gaming space to back the development.

Shroud and Tarik, both huge names in the Counter-Strike space, and iiTzTimmy, the infamously cracked professional Apex Legends player, have all contributed to the funding of Mountaintop's mission to create a competitive shooter that pushes the boundaries of the genre. Not only do these names give the project a certain level of authority, but the developers themselves are made up of ex-Respawn, Riot, Bungie, and Epic veterans, so the excitement around the project only continues to grow.

It affirms the studio's vision and Shroud himself sang their praises when he revealed that "the team really know shooters, which is really fun, and when I first joined them I got smoked.". A very high accolade, indeed, and one that only adds to the hype surrounding the as-yet-untitled game.

The game appears to have a slick Borderlands-esque art style, coupled with maps and play areas that look to cater towards verticality and fast-paced movement. With Mountaintop Studios' mission to flip the sometimes oversaturated tactical FPS genre on its head, their unannounced project seems to take inspiration from all the good parts of the genre's current top games. Punchy visuals, engaging and intuitive maps, and no doubt some high-octane gameplay are on the horizon.

The studio plans to officially announce the project this year and has been continuously playtesting and honing its craft for the last few years, so something exciting is definitely brewing. There's a strong understanding from Mountaintop that a great game relies on feedback from the players, so you can sign up for the next playtest right now, and the studio is still actively hiring for the game.
