Pokemon Go developer Niantic apologises and offers compensation to Sinnoh Tour – Los Angeles ticket holders after delays to the in-person event.
The Pokemon Go Sinnoh Tour event is a time-limited event that focuses on the fourth Generation of Pokemon, with Origin Forme Dialga and Palkia as the Legendary encounters to look forward to. Arceus wasn't added as he's considered too special.
Regardless, a lot of players were excited at a chance to face Dialga and Palkia in their Origin forms. The event was split into two halves, the first being held on 17 February 2024 for Los Angeles ticket holders and the global portion scheduled for 25 February 2024.
Unfortunately, the event did not begin on time as planned, with many fans complaining about the delays despite showing up in person to the locations listed. The check-in process took a while, and the venue opened up later than planned.
Niantic released an official statement to address this on their blog. They offered to compensate players. "As compensation for this delay, all Saturday Pokémon GO Tour: Sinnoh – Los Angeles ticket holders and those who purchased a Saturday City-wide Gameplay add-on will have their event gameplay extended later today." said the developers.
Niantic support also made a post on X/formerly known as Twitter, where they addressed the issues.
They further added, "Tonight, February 17, 2024, the city event experience will be expanded to include all of Los Angeles and Orange County for three extra hours, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. PST, and include additional raids and wild Pokémon encounters."
As additional compensation, they also offered extra raids and more wild Pokemon encounters in those hours. Hopefully, this will be enough to appease the fans and we hope that the global portion of the event will go smoother.
Niantic has recently been under a lot of pressure from fans after their free pose mixup, their most recent apology, and after making redeeming codes even harder.
