Infamous Pokémon haters PETA have spoken out against Palworld, the controversial Pokémon clone that has you shooting creatures and forcing them to work for you.

Over the years, PETA has condemned Pokémon’s battling system as a form of virtual animal cruelty. However, Palworld takes things much further. If you’re not hacking up the Paldeck creatures to eat, you’re probably enforcing the best jobs to make them give you endless resources for your base.

Via Insider Gaming, PETA was asked about its thoughts on the new game. In a statement, the animal charity explained that it hopes for a “vegan guide” in the future where players can avoid the game’s ruthless treatment of animals.

“PETA has already heard from many Palworld fans who have no interest in eating ‘Pals’ and want a vegan guide created for the game,” a representative for the charity said. “It’s ‘Veganuary’ after all, and gamers want to help animals by eating vegan in their game worlds and outside.”

Even with its animal cruelty, or maybe because of it, Palworld has been a huge success. While the game has been accused of plagiarism, which has caught the attention of The Pokémon Company, it has already sold 8 million copies on Steam alone.

In our review of Palworld, we explained that its survival gameplay mixed with Pokémon’s monster catching is a great time. It may not be the most original game in the world, but it’s a very good time for those who love survival games like Valheim.

Currently, Palworld is only available on Xbox and PC. While there is no Palworld PlayStation port or Palworld Nintendo Switch port, you can play Palworld on mobile via numerous means. Furthermore, PlayStation executives are working to get Palworld on PlayStation 5 following the game’s huge sales.

With 8 million sales already in the bag, Palworld is likely one of the biggest successes of the year. The game is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC.
