A new trailer for Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine has been uncovered. Found as part of the huge Insomniac leak last year, the trailer shows the type of gameplay the developer is aiming to deliver with this new superhero adventure.

The massive Insomniac Games hack saw an unparalleled number of files leaked from the game studio. This included early gameplay of Wolverine alongside plans for Spider-Man 3, a multiplayer Spider-Man spin-off and even an X-Men game.

While very early gameplay was leaked for Wolverine, a polished look at a target for the game has been found within the files. In the form of a new trailer, the never-before-seen video highlights gameplay systems and the levels of violence fans should expect.

We all know where they’re going

The trailer opens with Wolverine tracking targets through a dense forest. Following their scent and footprints, the stealthily X-Men hero jumps through trees and brutally takes out foot soldiers, shoving his still-bone claws right through their face.

After a stint in the forest, the trailer cuts to a more modern environment, showing Wolverine in the bar from the game’s reveal trailer. In this scene, the character dons a checkered shirt and fights with his iconic adamantium claws against a slew of minions. After a battle in an apartment building, Wolverine fights a heavy, brute enemy wearing a red Oni mask.

While not as violent as the Xbox 360/PS3 game, Insomniac is clearly taking some cues from the mature-rated X-Men Origins: Wolverine game. It’ll be interesting to see just how violent Insomniac’s take on the character will be in comparison.

Insomniac's Wolverine game may be very unfinished in this internal trailer, but it already looks like a tonne of fun. After the fantastic Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the studio has become the gold standard for superhero games. With Xbox also getting an exclusive superhero game in the form of Marvel’s Blade by Deathloop studio Arkane, fans of superhero games are eating well.

Insomniac’s Wolverine is still deep in development at Insomniac Games. The PlayStation 5 exclusive isn’t expected to launch until 2025 with a Spider-Man follow-up planned after that by the studio’s second team.
