Modern Warfare 3 fans demand dose of SMG weapon balancing

Modern Warfare 3 fans are demanding the developers apply a dose of weapon balancing to the SMG category.

An SMG in Modern Warfare 3 excels in close-quarters combat thanks to their fast rate of fire and incredible levels of mobility but as the cycle heads towards the start of Season 1, many are calling for adjustments to enhance their in-game performance even further.

With plenty of other guns and weapons to select, some who choose to use an SMG during matches are getting outgunned by other weaponry in scenarios when an SMG should secure the kill every single time. The lack of firepower is starting to frustrate fans, leading to calls for Sledgehammer Games to apply a much-needed buff.

According to Reddit user dynamicflashy, the lack of SMG firepower in Modern Warfare 3 is stopping the player from using any weapon in the category altogether.

The player says: "I have tried everything to make the SMGs work, but it seems futile as ARs and the BAS-B are superior in every single situation. I find it bewildering how the game launched with them in this state." There are plenty of Modern Warfare 3 SMG fans in agreeance. Another adds: "Numerically, they're not good. Their movement speed, ADS speed, and sprint-to-fire times aren't good enough. They need a buff."

With the launch of the first season of post-launch content on the horizon, there's a high chance of Sledgehammer Games implementing a range of buffs and nerfs in order to bring the SMG category in line with the rest of the arsenal.

On the other hand, some are topping the scoreboard with an SMG in hand. One fan says: "I just dropped 70 kills on Hardpoint with the WSP Swarm, I love that thing."

There's a chance some SMGs receive buffs but as others continue to make an impact with the category, the widespread adjustments may not come all at once resulting in a shift in the early meta.
