Modern Warfare 3 ranked players have blasted the mode's inconsistent matchmaking abilities.

With Season 2 on the horizon, Modern Warfare 3 players continue loading into ranked matches for their fix of competitive action. Despite Activision sharing the science behind its matchmaking philosophy, low-ranked players are catching a tough break.

Instead of players of similar rank and skill level being placed in the same lobby, bronze players are reporting that they're ending up in matches containing players that have secured their place in the world's top 250 resulting in a significant imbalance between the two teams.

To highlight the issues with ranked matchmaking, user Beautiful_Status_931 took to Reddit with a screenshot displaying bronze players going against some of the very best in the world much to their annoyance.

After highlighting such a huge disparity in player ranks, others were quick to share their frustrations surrounding Modern Warfare 3's questionable matchmaking. One player says: "Heard matchmaking isn't even solely based on ranked play rank. It'll also take into consideration your public match performance." Another adds: "That's a horrible matchmaking system."

Matchmaking continues to generate plenty of conversation among Call of Duty players. Although Activision has shed light on the topic, bronze players facing off against the very top of the ladder show there are issues that need to be addressed to maintain some kind of balance.

Inconsistent player pairings aren't unusual in Modern Warfare 3 ranked matches. Instead of facing off against players a few divisions above, finding opposition in Iridescent or Crimson while in Silver or Gold is another example of matchmaking struggling to function as intended.

Modern Warfare 3's ranked play was released as part of the Season 1 update. Since then, the mode hasn't received any updates which is disappointing for those who are hoping adjustments to matchmaking are in the works.

Hopefully, the launch of a new season addresses the issue to add some much-needed balance to ranked.
