A Modern Warfare 3 glitch is kicking players from matches while they use the Chopper Gunner killstreak.

The Chopper Gunner in Modern Warfare 3 is one of several killstreaks available to use in Sledgehammer Games' latest Call of Duty title. It enables players to operate the machine gun of a helicopter patrolling the skies and eliminate anyone moving through open areas of the maps.

Players spend at least a minute controlling the Chopper Gunner, leaving them stationary and vulnerable to any opponent that notices them holding a tablet instead of their weapon of choice. Instead of players returning to action once the helicopter has flown away, a glitch kicks them back to the main menu much to their annoyance.

The glitch was uncovered by Reddit user xCAxSE7EN who was slaying anything in sight before the game kicked them for inactivity.

As expected, the player wasn't best pleased after encountering the glitch: "Out of all the stuff I love about this game, this is so frustrating. Can we get an update to fix this please?" Based on the comments, being kicked from matches after using a killstreak isn't an isolated incident. Another fan adds: "I got kicked after an SAE killstreak. I was walking around and shooting and was still kicked."

The exact cause of the Chopper Gunner glitch remains a mystery but there are fans sceptical about a fix arriving sooner rather than later. One player says: "Should be a fix by Season 3. Season 4 at the latest."

With Season 1 on the horizon, there's a high chance players won't have to wait until the halfway point of the Modern Warfare 3 cycle before they stop getting booted out of matches for extending their spree. Sledgehammer Games is quick to acknowledge major problems affecting players loading into multiplayer so there's every chance a hotfix is in the works or it will arrive as part of a larger update in the not-too-distant future.
