Fallout 76 is officially a good game and fans will soon be able to play as a Ghoul in this post-apocalyptic online wasteland. Ghouls gained a ton of popularity after Amazon’s new series took everyone by storm, so this announcement was going to come sooner or later.

A new trailer shown off during the Xbox Showcase reveals that the long-running online title is going to get its first major map expansion. This includes new bosses to fight, a vault to explore, and bigger areas to loot. We’re surprised that this game was able to live and get good, but that’s just the times we’re living in.

Lastly, to sweeten the deal, Bethesda has revealed that Fallout 76 players will soon be able to play as a Ghoul in this new update. The actual announcement was brief, with no details on what makes this character class more unique than others.

Based on the Fallout show and various games in the series, we can assume that players won’t be able to feel pain like most humans. They might also be limited in their food options, as Ghouls have to eat flesh in order to stay alive, just like zombies. Not being able to feel pain should be useful in battle, though we imagine players will still die if they take enough damage.

It was easy to see why fans were so into The Ghoul in Amazon’s Fallout series, as he was a very compelling character with all sorts of lore. We imagine that players will want to roleplay as their own version of a Ghoul, so seeing Fallout 76 give them that opportunity is interesting.

We might joke about the game’s early flaws, but Bethesda has been able to make Fallout 76 an actual good title that fans enjoy. Granted, there were plenty of players who managed to enjoy the game for being a broken mess, but those days are over. Fallout 76: Skyline Valley will be coming to all systems on June 12.
