Breakdown

  • Activision Blizzard is banning SR boosting in Call of Duty when Season 3 arrives
  • The company previously did this with Warzone players
  • Companies are finally doing something about boosting

As Call of Duty players get ready for Season 3 of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, Activision Blizzard has announced that they are removing ranked SR boosters. The company will soon take action against those who have taken part in Ranked Play progression boosting, so players will want to check their stats.

On the Call of Duty updates Twitter, it was stated that those who are flagged for ranked SR boosting will see their SR progression reset. It was said that this is the “initial measure,” implying that harsher punishments can come from those who try and do it again.

“Fostering a fair and competitive environment for all of our players remains a top priority. We will continue to monitor leaderboards with new detections to identify boosted accounts and may fully reset SR on detected boosted accounts periodically to ensure our leaderboards reflect good, fair gameplay,” tweeted out the account.

This isn’t the first time Activision Blizzard did this to Call of Duty players, as they previously banned Warzone users for doing the same thing. While they were proactive before, it seems that the company wants these “cheaters” to stop before Season 3 starts.

For those unfamiliar with the term, boosting is what happens when more experienced players go to lower level maps to rank up quickly. It’s an easy way to boost your SR (Skill Rating), but that also means angering a ton of normal players who just want to have fun. Needless to say, this proved to be controversial, which is why Activision Blizzard is finally putting their foot down.

Even though Call of Duty fans didn’t enjoy the single-player campaign of Modern Warfare 3, the multiplayer is still a quality experience many enjoy. Whether it’s Modern Warfare 3 or Warzone, fans have good options to just let loose and shoot their friends for fun. It’s a shame that some players have decided to “boost” and try to get an advantage, as that’s very unsportsman-like.
