New World Introduce New AFK Detection System

After New World's successful launch, Amazon Games have introduced a new AFK detection system to prevent players from staying logged in to the game for extended periods of time if they are not actively playing the game.

With server populations of 2000 - 2250, the larger servers are seeing very high queue times just to enter the world and play, and this isn't helped by the endless number of players auto running into objects and occasionally moving to reset their AFK timer.

While Amazon has not said how their fix works to prevent players from finding ways around it again, they assure people that it won't have an effect on the average player experience.

The fix began rolling out on servers on Sunday and will continue over the next few days.

Amazon may even hand out bans for players who continue to try and bypass this new system.

"Initially, being caught by our detection solution will result in a quick kick to the main menu. If the behavior continues, more harsh penalties will be applied." Community Manager HardcoreHenry says on the New World forums.

High population servers have had character creation disabled for new players, but will open the option for everyone to transfer to different servers to play with their friends with no limits, so even players on low population servers will be able to join their friends on these capped servers later this week.

New World's successful release saw 500,000 concurrent players on day one and quickly surpassed 1,000,000 total players.
