NBA 2K21 made its next-gen debut last year, giving fans one of the best-looking basketball games ever made, while the gameplay was solid, albeit with a number of annoying in-game purchases hampering the overall release, so you can see why fans are excited for this year’s NBA 2K22, which will likely come to both current-gen and next-gen consoles, hopefully with less of those annoying microtransactions.

Since 2K Games has been consistent with their NBA video games, there’s a very good chance that NBA 2K22 will be coming out this year with no problems, so fans shouldn’t have to worry about any delays unless anything drastic happens to the development, though the acquisition of HookBang should ensure that nothing bad happens to this game.

Anyway, here’s everything you need to know about NBA 2K22:

Release Date: When Is NBA 2K22 Coming Out?

The NBA 2K games have consistently been released around September with one of the few occasions being the next-gen version of NBA 2K21, which was released last November, though the current-gen versions were still released in September.

Now that 2K Games has gotten used to this new engine, it will either be simultaneously released with other consoles in September or current-gen versions come in September while the next-gen version of NBA 2K22 comes out in November again.

Who Will Be The NBA 2K22 Cover Star?

Last year, NBA 2K21 decided to have multiple cover stars, with Damian Lillard being the star for the current-gen edition of the game, Zion Williamson in the next-gen versions, while the late Kobe Bryant ended up being in the Black Mamba edition that was made in tribute to him.

No NBA 2K22 cover athletes have been named yet but current contenders for the game’s cover include Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Bradley Beal, who have all had a killer year.

Will NBA 2K22 Have Any New Gameplay Features?

Most of the new gameplay features in NBA 2K21 were quality of life improvements, like more realistic-feeling gameplay thanks to the new controllers that have adaptive triggers.

Some games have suggested features like a player’s hot streak and confidence being shown through subtle actions and having some sort of dynamic with the coach, especially if the player follows or disobeys his instructions.

Will NBA 2K22 Get Free Next-Gen Upgrades?

Nope. You had to pay extra for one in NBA 2K21 so expect the same for NBA 2K22.
