A taste of World War II comes to Call of Duty's Modern Warfare, the Kar98k is one of the best rifles in Season 5.
Unlocked at level 33 and known for both high accuracy and damage at range, the rifle is popular for picking enemies and hitting some insane quick scoping clips.
With numerous attachments to select in the Gunsmith, we will show you three Kar98k classes and some helpful Modern Warfare tips & tricks that will have you scoring headshots with ease!

Class 1 – Back to Basics
This first class is a more traditional setup with the potential to score easy kills at long range and perhaps some at close quarters depending on how aggressive you decide to play.
Attachments

- Focus (Perk)
The sniper scope offers clear vision of enemies at any range while adding Focus provides a much-needed reduction to flinch when you’re under fire when scoped in.
Perks
- Cold Blooded (Perk 1)
- Ghost (Perk 2)
- Amped (Perk 3)
Cold Blooded will make you undetectable from any AI Killstreaks, Ghost will allow you to remain unseen on enemy UAVs and Amped increases your weapon swap speed which is very handy when you need your secondary weapon in the heat of battle.
Grenades
- Frag Grenade (Lethal)
- Stim (Tactical)
Stim is very useful when playing in a more aggressive position on the map. Popping Stim for a quick health boost to get back in the fight or avoid a potential death.
Field Upgrades
- Stopping Power Rounds
Using Stopping Power eliminates any possible hitmarker that may occur when shooting at very long range.
Killstreaks
- Cluster Strike (5 Kills)
- Sentry Gun (7 Kills)
- VTOL Jet (8 Kills)
This streak combination can be earned very quickly and it can also amass a large number of kills especially when placed well.
Class 2 – Quickscope King
This class is aimed at for the players that love to hit insane clips with a sniper. The Kar98k is a much more mobile alternative to a sniper rifle and still performs well.

- Scout Combat Optic (Optic)
- FTAC Sport Comb (Stock)
- Stippled Grip Tape (Rear Grip)
This class is focussed on aiming down the sight (ADS) as fast as possible to react to an opponent as fast as possible. The Scout Combat Optic provides a bit of extra zoom when scoring the kills at a longer range.
Perks
- Double Time (Perk 1)
- Hardline (Perk 2)
- Battle Hardened (Perk 3)
Hardline is key to scoring any kind of Killstreaks due to the aggressive nature of this loadout. Battle Hardened will reduce the effects of flash and stun grenades which makes it easy to stay on track of a target.
Grenades
- Throwing Knife (Lethal)
- Stun Grenade (Tactical)
Go for the incredible plays with the quickscopes and the throwing knife! Stuns also slow down any target that you have in your sights, making them easy to throwing knife or a straightforward kill with the Kar98K.
Field Upgrades
- Dead Slience
The increase in movement speed and silent footsteps makes it the perfect field upgrade to sneak behind the enemy and get in a position to hit that all-important sniping spree.
Killstreaks
- Personal Radar (3 Kills)
- Care Package (4 Kills)
- Precision Airstrike (5 Kills)
Low killstreaks are the way forward when quickscoping as it’s likely that you’ll die a lot. You never know, there is always a potential to get a Gunship in a care package!
Class 3 – Bolt-Action Turret
Class three fully utilises the mounting feature in Modern Warfare.

- Bipod (Underbarrel)

- 4.0x Flip Hybrid (Optic)
- STVOL Precision Comb (Stock)
- Granulated Grip Tape (Rear Grip)
The bipod stabilises recoil when crouched and prone while the hybrid optic is perfect for engagements at any range.
Perks
- Overkill (Perk 1)
- High Alert (Perk 2)
- Shrapnel (Perk 3)
Overkill allows a superior secondary weapon to bail you out of any tricky situations while shrapnel enables two lethals of your choice to use against the opposition.
Grenades
- Claymore (Lethal)
- Heartbeat Sensor (Tactical)
Set up in a house and plant some claymores in front of doorways to guarantee a kill. Don’t forget to use the heartbeat sensor to be aware of any enemies that may be converging on your position!
Field Upgrades
- Deployable Cover
Create a mounting position virtually anywhere on the battlefield with deployable cover. Perfect for using in open areas.
Killstreaks
- Counter UAV (4 Kills)
- Cruise Missile (5 Kills)
- Wheelson (7 Kills)
Counter UAVs are heavily underrated in Modern Warfare and are a perfect way to disrupt the opposition and block their UAVs. The same can be said for Wheelson too, its air-burst turret is capable of dealing plenty of damage when in the right areas of the map.
