Activision announce 2015 Call of Duty Championship

On the 8th January 2015, Twitter exploded into a frenzy of hype and chaos as Activision, Sledgehammers Games and MLG officially announced the 2015 Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox.

The third instalment of the iconic $1 million dollar tournament is scheduled to occur on the 27-29th of March in Los Angeles, California. The annual event will feature the highest calibre of Call of Duty eSports, with 32 of the world’s best teams competing for a claim to the monumental prize pool, as well as the coveted title of World Champion.

In a statement issued by Michael Condrey, Co-founder and Studio Head, Sledgehammer Games, it was declared that:

“From Day 1, the team at Sledgehammer Games set out to bring a new way to play Call of Duty multiplayer to fans. We couldn’t be more thrilled of how the competitive community has embraced and mastered the new player movements and game modes of Advanced Warfare,”

“This is posed to be one of the most exciting Call of Duty competitive seasons with the Call of Duty Championship being one of the best eSports tournaments of the year.”

Glen Schofield, Co-Founder and Studio Head, Sledgehammer Games also added:

“We developed Advanced Warfare with the competitive community in mind, and we can’t wait for the top talent from around the world to compete in the Call of Duty Championships.”

In order for one to qualify for the historic event, a range of regional competitions will be held between January and March, with selected finals in Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States broadcasted online. The entire event is scheduled to be live streamed on MLG.tv, with the Grand Finals on Sunday, March 29th, broadcasted on both Xbox Live and MLG. However, for those of you who are riddled with anticipation, thankfully Activision has released an official trailer as a means to momentarily quench our thirst for top quality Call of Duty eSports action!
