The Call of Duty World Championships are now just a day away. 32 of the very best teams from around the world, come together, as they compete for a share of the massive $1million prize pool.
As the clock ticks ever closer to the beginning of the biggest tournament in CoD eSports, the qualified 32 teams have been throwing hundreds of Uplink Drones and finessing nade spots, as they tirelessly practice their strategies, all for the chance to be crowned World Champion.
In the final instalment of the series, we will be taking a look at Groups F, G & H of the Call of Duty World Championship, as we attempt to predict which 6 teams will triumph out of pool play.
Group F
Team Revenge (US) | Remy, Nagafen, Faccento & Aqua
Aware.EU (EU) | Joe, JTee, Peatie & Watson
Team Infused (EU) | Op2, Quiker, Dominate & Melon
3sUp Enterprises (US) | Strife, Califa, Vert & Dimi
When the groups were initially announced by Activision this past Monday, Group F in particular, looked to be a very interesting affair. Team Revenge are heading into the event on a high, having achieved a solid top 6 finish at the North American Regional Finals, notably sweeping aside Denial eSports along the way. With the entire squad showing great skill and composure during their matches at NA regionals, they are my number one team to come out of Group F.
The battle for the second spot in the pool will be a close-cut affair, with Aware, Infused and 3sUp gunning to make it into the last 16. A young but experienced Aware Gaming may be one of the dark horses of the tournament, as the combination of Peatie’s experience and the explosive nature of long-time duo Watson and JTee, provides the organisation with a genuine threat to most of their rivals.
Team Infused, on the other hand, are coming into the competition with nothing to lose, as their original 4th, Reedy, was excluded from competing due to a player incident at the European Regionals. In place of Reedy, is the team coach, Op2, and although he may not maintain the same level of skill as Reedy, his vast knowledge of the game may play out as an advantage for the Red Army.
In my opinion, 3sUp have little chance of making it into the last 16. Their team consists of relatively new members of the community and ultimately their lack of appropriate major LAN experience will only hinder their progress. However, they are certainly a team to watch for the future.
With all that said, my second team to make it out of Group F is Aware, primarily due to their strong cohesion as a team, combined with a suitable amount of knowledge and experience.
