2021 marks the anniversaries of many notable Nintendo franchises, from Donkey Kong celebrating its 40th birthday to Super Mario 64 marking 25 years since it released in 1996.
After a sealed copy of Super Mario 64 sold for $1.5 Million a few months ago, the celebrations continue with a brand-new LEGO set based on the classic platformer.
Super Mario 64 LEGO Set Has Been Revealed
Building on the partnership between Nintendo and LEGO, the new set consists of a gigantic Question block that opens up to reveal four levels from the original game: Peach’s Castle, Bob-omb Battlefield, Lethal Lava Trouble, and Cool, Cool Mountain.
The forthcoming set will consist of 2,064-pieces, and also features several micro figures from the series including Penguin, Big Bully, Chain Chomp, and of course, Princess Peach and the Italian, jumpsuit-wearing plumber himself. More figures will be incorporated, but these are yet to be announced.
This LEGO set is a step-up from previous Mario-inspired sets, like the Luigi Starter Course and individual miniature figures replicating the franchise's characters.
LEGO Super Mario 64 will be available from October 1st, 2021, and can be purchased exclusively from the LEGO Online store and LEGO retailers for a price of 169.99 EUR/USD. The set will be more widely available from other outlets next year.
