There’s a reason Final Fantasy has become one of the biggest role-playing video game franchises today. In addition to introducing several relatable and lovable characters, it has also featured several vast fantasy worlds.
From the mainline games to spin-offs, each game features rich worlds that players can explore for hours and uncover the wealth of content they offer.
These overworlds used to be massive world maps, but the rise of open-world gaming made Final Fantasy’s massive landscapes evolve into fleshed-out places many wanted to live in.
So, which of these worlds do you wish was real? Here are the five Final Fantasy worlds players want to visit in real life.
Spira - Final Fantasy X
Located in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, Spira is a large island comprised of a mainland continent and several smaller islands in the east, west, and south.
It has a diverse climate and boasts the seaside islands of Besaid and Kilika.
Suppose these don’t entice the players yet. In that case, they can also explore the temperate locales in the Mi'ihen Highroad and Mushroom Rock Road regions, the polar extremes of Lake Macalania and Mt. Gagazet, the deep, mystical forests of Macalania Woods, and the arid deserts of Bikanel.
It’s pretty much complete of great places to visit. Don’t worry; disasters only happen every thousand years here.
And after Yuna survives the battle against Sin, everyone works together to rebuild Spira.
Machines are now allowed in the area again, making it a better world to be in.
Ivalice – Final Fantasy XII
A recurring place in the Final Fantasy series, Ivalice first appeared in Final Fantasy Tactics and debuted in Final Fantasy XII.
This region consists of three continents: Ordalia, Valendia, and Kerwon.
Its Golden Age is based on ancient Mediterranean cultures, such as Turkey, Jordan, and Late Period Egypt, with some influence from India, Sri Lanka, and modern metropolitan cities.
Though there may be a war in this area, its post-ending version makes it a place worth visiting.
In this vast world, which feels like another universe, players can explore deserts, mountains, and even a flying city.
Hydaelyn – Final Fantasy XIV
Also known as The Source or Eitheirys, Hydaelyn is where Final Fantasy XIV occurs. Its orbits contain two moons: the Silver Moon and the Lesser Moon.
It features five continents, with numerous islands scattered across its vast surface.
Its largest and most developed continent is the interconnected landmasses known as the Three Great Continents.
This place is also complete with islands and bodies of water.
With these features, visiting Hydaelyn will make players feel like they're in a fantastic world.
They can do almost anything, from fighting off the monsters to cooking their own food.
Amostra – Final Fantasy Explorers
Amostra may not come from the mainline games, but there’s no denying that this location in Final Fantasy Explorers is one of the best places to be.
This small island is a vast energy source and even contains the Grand Crystal, the source of all life.
There’s no grand story here; it’s pretty much a chill world. If players like adventure, this is the perfect place for them.
Grymoire – World of Final Fantasy
Grymoire is the best world for Final Fantasy fans to visit.
Coming from the spin-off World of Final Fantasy, it houses the characters across the franchise, like Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and Lightning from Final Fantasy 13.
This place is like Kingdom Hearts but for Final Fantasy. With its bright and colourful world, visiting and catching monsters to be pets or party members may be fun.
Though it seems to lack industry or other attractions, it’s still an exciting location to visit in person.
