League of Legends has announced the next champion joining the world of Runeterra - Gwen: The Hallowed Seamstress.

As we gear up for update 11.7 in LoL, attention has been turned to this interesting and unique champion that will join the star-studded lineup of champions in the popular PC MOBA.

If you hadn't guessed Gwen used to cut hair, but it's unclear if the pandemic closed her salon or she met a fate long before then.

Here's what we know about the latest LoL champion Gwen.

Release Date

Gwen arrives as part of patch 11.8, which is expected on April 14th.

She's actually available in the PBE today, so you can get hands-on early.

Patch 11.7, which introduces the Space Groove skins, goes live on April 1.

Gwen Lore

As per Riot Games:

A former doll transformed and brought to life by magic, Gwen wields the very tools that once created her. She carries the weight of her maker’s love with every step, taking nothing for granted. At her command is the Hallowed Mist, an ancient and protective magic that has blessed Gwen’s scissors, needles, and sewing thread. So much is new to her, but Gwen remains joyfully determined to fight for the good that survives in a broken world.

Having been given a unique chance at life, Gwen chooses to be an indomitable, positive force against all odds. She journeys across Runeterra, determined to restore joy to those who are hurt and suffering. To Gwen, each moment is precious, and each step driven with purpose.

Gwen appears to be a doll, turned human (potentially by the Ruined King himself).

Abilities

Here are all of Gwen's abilities:

Passive: Thousand Cuts

Gwen's basic attacks deal bonus on-hit magic damage based on a percentage of her health. Basic attacks against champions will heal her for some of the damage dealt.

Q - Snip Snip

Gwen rapidly snips her scissors between two and six times, dealing magic damage in a cone. At a minimum, Gwen will snip twice, adding one snip per basic attack Gwen has landed on an enemy (up to four for a total of six).

Enemies in the center of each snip take true damage, as well as the bonus magic damage from Thousand Cuts.

W - Hallowed Mist

Gwen spins up the Hallowed Mist to surround her for five seconds, gaining some armor and magic resist when in it. Enemies outside the Mist cannot target Gwen or hit her with any abilities. The mist will move to follow Gwen the first time she tries to leave it, but will dissipate the next time.

E - Skip 'n Slash

Gwen dashes a short distance and empowers her attacks with increased range, speed, and on-hit magic damage for four seconds. Attacking an enemy during this time refunds 50% of this ability’s cooldown.

R - Needlework

Gwen can cast Needlework up to three times, but needs to hit an enemy within 8 seconds to unlock each subsequent cast. Each cast fires needles in a line that deal magic damage, slow enemies, and apply Gwen's Thousand Cuts bonus magic damage.

Price

Expect Gwen to cost 7800 BE/975 RP on launch and remain at this price for the first week.

She will then be dropped to 6300 BE thereafter.
