Riot Re-Confirms League of Legends MMO In The Works

Riot Games has a League of Legends MMO in the works, and while Riot Games has yet to make an official announcement, the Riot webpage outlines the team they’re looking to build for the project.

It’s not technically “new” news, admittedly.

The League of Legends MMO executive producer Greg Street said as much to a fan in December 2020.

Street mentioned their job at Riot was “to help develop the League universe” including work on “a big (some might say massive) game”.

When pushed on whether it was an MMO, Street confirmed it was, indeed, a League of Legends MMO.

Still, that hardly qualifies as an official announcement, especially since games in that early phase can easily fail or get cancelled.

Riot Re-Confirms League of Legends MMO In The Works

The recent update means that’s much less likely now.

The update reads:

No, you’re not dreaming, we’re working on an MMORPG based in the League universe!
We know MMOs take a lot of people to create, and we’ll need a pretty big raid team if we want to bring Runeterra to life.

The League of Legends MMO is still evidently in its early development phases at this point.

Some of the positions Riot is hiring for include fundamental positions, such as engineering, design, art, and production.

So in short, don’t expect a League of Legends MMO trailer anytime soon.
