LCS 2021: Cloud9 Joins Team Liquid And 100 Thieves As North American Worlds Representatives

Four action-packed League of Legends matches comprised of the remaining teams in the Playoffs of the LCS Summer Split 2021 were seen last week wherein the top 3 teams in the tournament were now determined.

Cloud9 vs Evil Geniuses

Cloud9 pulled off a major sweep, defeating Evil Geniuses in a 3-0 series score to advance in the next round of the lower bracket, facing the winner of TSM vs Immortals later that night.

TSM vs Immortals

Number 1 team TSM prevailed over Immortals after scoring a 3-1 series finish to eliminate the latter in the process. TSM went on later that night to face Cloud9 in the next round of the lower bracket.

Team Liquid vs 100 Thieves

In what could be the biggest surprise of the LEC Playoffs so far this year, Team Liquid bested powerhouse 100 Thieves in a five-game classic which sealed them the first spot in the grand finals of this year’s edition of the tournament.

Team Liquid managed to win games 1, 4, and 5, while it was 100 Thieves who notched the victory in games 2 and 3. The former showed their hearts out which made them win over the latter even if they were on the verge of losing when 100 Thieves was at match point in game 3. Team Liquid will now have to wait for the winner of the match between 100 Thieves and the winner of Cloud9 vs TSM later that night.

The two winners in the first two matches of the night ended the second week of the LEC Playoffs. But in the end, only one team got the upper hand – and it was the night of Cloud9 indeed.

Another five-game match as it ended, Cloud9 won games 2, 4, and 5, while TSM only managed to win games 1 and 3. Though they were also in match point as early as game 3, it was not enough for them to win the series overall – just like how Team Liquid vs 100 Thieves ended. Cloud9 will face 100 Thieves next week to determine the second LEC grand finalist who will face Team Liquid.
