Following their disappointing 2021 League of Legends season run, G2 Esports looks set to rebuild its entire roster, based around mid laner Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther and jungler Marcin ‘Jankos’ Jankowski.

That's been confirmed by G2 Esports' CEO, Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodríguez. Releasing a video post on Twitter, he confirmed the team’s plans involve replacing several players and staff, attempting to bolster their line-up for the upcoming 2022 season.

Some of G2 Esports' moves include benching or possibly trading support Mihael ‘Mikyx’ Mehle and top laner Martin ‘Wunder’ Hansen, alongside replacing head coach Carl Martin Erik ‘Rekkles’ Larsson. Strategic coach Fabian ‘GrabbZ’ Lohman, Sng ‘Nelson’ Yi-Wei, and the team’s remaining support staff could also be hit.

Rodríguez’s announcement addressed rumours from the past few months that G2 will implement potential roster and staff changes. Most notably, Rodríguez discussed Rekkles, who he stated was ‘great’ to them, advising:

“For Rekkles, he came this last year and really did his best. Played solo queue a lot, did a lot of content for us and our partners. He was great to us. Only great words to say about everybody that will no longer be with us.”

G2 finished fourth in the LEC 2021 Summer Playoffs after being eliminated by Fnatic, 3-2. However, with their plans currently rolling, G2's looking forward to bouncing back harder in the next League of Legends season. Make sure to follow us for more Esports news and updates.
