Call of Duty Next start time countdown, Modern Warfare 2, and more

With the Call of Duty Vanguard cycle nearing its end, attention is turning toward the launch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Much to the excitement of fans, Infinity Ward is spearheading the development of 2022's title which acts as a sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare.

In addition to Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2 will launch later this year much to the excitement of those growing tired of the Pacific era. Rather than holding reveal events for each title, Activision is hosting Call of Duty Next, an event detailing the immediate future of the shooter franchise.

Call of Duty Next takes place on September 15, 2022 with a broadcast unveiling all kinds of new innovations coming to Call of Duty.

Thanks to new artwork appearing on Call of Duty's social media channels, we now know when Call of Duty Next will take place. Here are the times you need to know:

Call of Duty Next Modern Warfare 2

According to a Call of Duty blog post, Call of Duty Next will new details on Modern Warfare 2 including a full multiplayer reveal. In addition, a number of content creators will showcase the game before players can jump into the beta on September 16.

The blog also teases "[[REDACTED]] information and surprises" suggesting there's plenty of exciting intel on its way.

Call of Duty Next Warzone 2

Other than a 2022 release window, Activision remains tight-lipped on all things surrounding Warzone 2. Following the success of the Verdansk era, the Pacific era failed to live up to the dizzying heights but many believe a fresh start and a brand-new map could inject a breath of fresh air into the battle royale.

Expect to hear plenty about the next chapter including intel on the new map and maybe even a release date.

What is Call of Duty Next?

Described as an "era-defining event," Call of Duty Next will outline the immediate future of the franchise. The event will feature new information on Warzone 2, Warzone Mobile, and Modern Warfare 2 and with surprises hinted, there's always a chance a mention of DMZ will appear.

The news is hugely exciting for Call of Duty which could enter its first two-year game cycle if rumours of a delay to the 2023 release are correct.
