Known for its annual release schedule, the Call of Duty franchise is a staple of the gaming calendar. With a new title guaranteed to appear in the final quarter of the year, many often look ahead to what the next chapter has in store.
However, 2023 could look a little different. Several reports claim Activision will not release a Call of Duty title in 2023, giving Treyarch an additional year of development time. Although there's no new title, the publisher still has plans for Call of Duty 2023.
If the publisher's 2022 Q2 earnings report is anything to go by, 2023 will still feature plenty of content for Call of Duty fans. With that said, find everything there is to know about Call of Duty 2023 and Activision's plans in our hub.
Will Call of Duty launch in 2023?
Amid reports of a delay, Activision's quarterly report for Q2 of 2022 says "premium paid content" is on its way suggesting something new is in the works.
Contrary to previous reports, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier says a brand-new title will now appear in 2023. Schreier expects the premium content offering to be for Modern Warfare 2 which coincides with another claim stating classic maps could feature as DLC.
Another theory could involve the release of a standalone Zombies title which is particularly exciting for those disappointed with what Vanguard Zombies currently offers.
Once we hear more on Activision's 2023 plans we will update the article with the latest intel.
Modern Warfare 2 2023 DLC
Considering Infinity Ward hasn't shared any information on what multiplayer has to offer, intel on 2023 DLC could be a while away. As it shares the same name as 2009's Modern Warfare 2, there are plenty of opportunities for the developer to add weapons and maps into 2022's Modern Warfare 2.
Having an extensive back-catalogue of content will prove invaluable for the Modern Warfare 2 cycle that will last two years.

Call of Duty 2023 Zombies
The thought of a standalone Zombies title is an exciting one especially when Modern Warfare 2 won't feature any undead opposition. A sequel to Zombies Chronicles containing a huge pool of classic maps alongside an all-new storyline could reinvigorate the Zombies universe following a disappointing second chapter from the Dark Aether.
That's all we know about Call of Duty 2023 so far. As more details continue to emerge in the coming months, we will update the hub with any new leaks that appear.
