Horizon Forbidden West: Will It Have Multiplayer?

Horizon Forbidden West is an action role-playing game from Guerilla Games and is the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn. With everything we know so far about the sequel, it seems that Aloy will be traversing a large map and uncovering multiple secrets along the way. With such a vast world to explore and multiple new enemies to face, will Forbidden West have multiplayer?

Will It Have Multiplayer?

If there’s any form of multiplayer that will be in Horizon Forbidden West, it hasn’t been officially announced yet. With the game due to release in mid-February 2022, it seems unlikely that there will be a multiplayer mode.

This article from VGC previously uncovered a job-listing on Guerilla's website that hinted at the possibility of a multiplayer game being in the works. The job description matched the timing of developing Forbidden West and any potential new features for it. According to VGC, there is more proof for a multiplayer game being worked on as Sony hired Simon Larouche to work on a new title. Larouche has previously worked as a game director on the multiplayer modes of several large games such as Rainbow Six Siege.

With Horizon VR being announced recently, it seems that Guerilla is clearly invested in expanding the world of Horizon. Therefore, alongside the research from VGC, it seems there is still a possibility that a multiplayer game is in the works as a separate addition to Forbidden West. It is important to remember that this is all speculation at the moment and nothing official has been said.
