The Hearthstone team just can't stop making new games. After Hearthstone Battlegrounds' enormous popularity within the Hearthstone player base, it's only natural that the team would keep trying to build new experiences within the game's world. Hearthstone Mercenaries is the latest addition to that strategy.

Hearthstone Mercenaries is free-to-play, and offers both free-to-play and paid options. With the PvE modes at the start of the game, it's definitely more fun to play for free though - the added challenge leads to loads more decisions to be made, and the rewards track is generous enough.

The game is described on Hearthstone's website. "Mercenaries combines permanent RPG progression, roguelike elements, and iconic Hearthstone characters into a new, free-to-play Hearthstone experience. Form a Party of your favorite characters and set out on a Bounty, adventure awaits!"

It's kind of like Pokemon in the way the battles play out. Your Mercenaries have attacks they can use, and different 'speed' stats so you can strategise with getting them to go in the right order. You also have type advantages, so certain Mercenaries will deal double damage to others depending on their type.

You'll be able to find all the info on the mode on Hearthstone's gameplay blog and progression blog, so if an RPG/roguelike/Pokemon battler sounds up your street, give them a look. There's even a Diablo crossover, so prepare for even more wacky characters making it into Herathstone Mercenaries. Blizzard sure do have a lot of potential here. Winston from Overwatch, anyone? How about Captain Price from Call of Duty?

We'll have a full review available right here on Gfinity soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that too!
