Wondering how to get diamonds in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? We've got you covered. In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are never enough rupees to go around. One of the quickest ways to gain rupees is to sell rare gemstones, the most expensive of which are diamonds, which you can sell at 500 rupees each.

Before selling your diamonds, you should know that they are also required to make certain special weapons at the end of some region quest lines. So you might want to save some of the shiny rocks in order to get your hands on these particularly powerful weapons.

There are several ways to acquire diamonds in Tears of the Kingdom, each with its own pros and cons. The first way to get diamonds is to simply buy them from a shop in Goron City. These will cost you 1000 rupees which is very expensive, but still an option if you are desperate for some diamonds.

Diamonds can be also found in treasure chests, most commonly at shrines. You will encounter these as you play the game and complete the shrines. We haven’t been able to confirm the list of all shrines that contain diamonds, but one guaranteed location is the Sahajog Shrine (4544, -0845, 1121).

Mine diamonds from Ore Deposits

Diamonds can also drop from Ore Deposits, although it's a very slim chance. Ore Deposits are the big dark rocks lying around Hyrule. You can destroy them by fusing a stone with any of your weapons and smashing the Ore Deposit with it. You should also look for the Ore Deposits that have gold flakes in them, as they drop the highest rarity items. The drop rate for diamonds is still very low, though.

Another way to guarantee a diamond drop from an Ore Deposit is to save the game before mining it, and if a diamond doesn’t drop, you can reload the game and repeat the process until a diamond has fallen. This method is very time-consuming and boring, but still, a viable strategy if you're after some precious gemstones.

Getting diamonds from Dondons

Last but not least is to use the Dondons. Those are creatures living in the Bronas Forest in West Necluda. These beings have the incredible ability to provide rare minerals if you feed them some luminous stones. In order to get diamonds from Dondons, here's what you need to do:

  • Find the Dondons at 1564, -3351, 0059.
  • Feed a luminous stone to each of the five Dondons.
  • Leave the area and come back in around 20 minutes.
  • Collect your reward.

However, the diamonds are not guaranteed as the estimated drop rate is only around 5%. It is still worth feeding your excess luminous stones to Dondons as they will also give you other valuable items, but don’t make this your sole source of diamonds.
