If you've never played Super Mario RPG, you will run into a lot of interesting but time-consuming puzzles, one of them is finding the Sunken Ship password to access the final chamber as you give chase to Jonathan Jones.

Soon after you find yourself reunited with Peach, getting access to all playable characters in the game, you'll reach Seaside Town, after talking to an elder citizen you'll be tasked with exploring the Sunken Ship and retrieving the fifth Star Piece from pirate Jonathan Jones.

The ship hides a ton of secrets, but you'll eventually run into a door that asks you to input a six-letter passcode to proceed. In this guide, we'll reveal the Sunken Ship password, saving you from a headache in case you're struggling.

Sunken Ship password in Super Mario RPG

Before reaching the locked door, you might have seen several rooms with puzzles to complete. These range from navigating a 3D maze, to positioning moving bouncy platforms in the right direction for a cannonball to hit the right target, and more.

Completing them will reward you with small tokens like Flower Tabs, but most importantly, clues as to what the six-letter password is. If you want to give it a final shot at solving it yourself, here are all the clues:

  • There is an "s" in the word
  • It has two vowels
  • It is found on the bed of the ocean
  • It is very valuable
  • "It" is actually "they"

The solution to the Sunken Ship password

The password needs to be inputted using the floating boxes above Mario's head. Start from the box on the far left of the first column. If you did it right, the positioning of the letters should look like this

  • S - R - L
  • P - E - A

Once you do this, you'll gain access to the next room where you'll have a fight against King Calarami.
