Following the 2024 preview event, Rare confirmed Sea of Thieves Season 12 will commence on April 30, 2024. The start of Season 12 coincides with the game launching on PS5, giving new and returning players a clean slate.

During the preview event, the developers also unveiled a wealth of content making its way to Sea of Thieves as part of the Season 12 update. Ranging from new weaponry to items that allow players to summon skeletons in the heat of battle, there's plenty of new features to master.

Here's a closer look at the new content:

• Double-Barrelled Flintlock - a close-quarters weapon capable of firing two shots in quick succession before needing to be reloaded.
• Throwing Knife - Perfect for close-quarters and melee combat. It must be retrieved from surfaces once thrown.
• Scattershot - Allows players to shoot four cannonballs at the same time. Ideal for dealing huge damage to enemy ships.
• Wind Caller - Creates gusts of wind which can be used to boost sail performance, put out fires, or blowing enemies overboard.
• Bone Caller - Spawns skeletons to help players overcome the opposition.
• Ziplines - Islands will now have a quick travel option when returning to ships.

When does Sea of Thieves Season 12 end?

The Season 12 end date for Sea of Thieves hasn't appeared yet but with Season 11 lasting 17 weeks, we expect Season 12 to follow a similar pattern. If this is the case, Season 12 will end on August 27, 2024.
