There have already been two Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour events which were held on February 6 and 13, 2024. Most players expect the next event to take place today. However, we can confirm that the next event will take place on February 27, 2024.

During the previous two Spotlight Hour events, players were able to get the Dratini and Munna Pokémon as they were in the spotlight. As for the coming event, Pokémon Go players should have their eyes out for Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew, as they will be in the spotlight.

Is Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew Shiny?

Both Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew Shiny are going to be available for grabs in the coming event as Niantic has confirmed. During the event, players will be able to find and pick shiny Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew.

If you are wondering what a Shiny Pokémon is, it's just a rare Pokémon variant with a different colour. All shiny Pokémon variants come with a sparkly icon above the CP. So during the coming Pokémon Go Spotlight Hour event for February, you'll be able to get two new rare character variants.

The coming event slated for February 27 will be no different as it'll also last for an hour. The coming event will kick off at 6PM and last up until 7PM. During this time players will be able to find and pick Shiny Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew as well as other characters.

For spotlight bonuses, players can get 2x Transfer Candy and % Transfer Rare Candy XL in the coming Spotlight event. In addition to these items, it's always worth checking what's in your inventory before a Spotlight Hour gets underway.

Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour tips and tricks

To catch more Pokémon during the Spotlight Hour event you'll need to use an Incense or Lures. Players can also make use of the Pokédex classification to find collections of Shiny Pokémon. To catch the Pokémon that will be in the spotlight come February 27, players need to get enough Poke Balls, berries, a clear Pokémon Storage Box, and enough PokeCoins to purchase any items.

With these items ready to go, players will be able to get enough Pokémon for evolving as well as new characters in their playing arsenal. This event can also help players to boost their XP and Stardust for use during the event. Players can boost this by using spare Lucky Eggs or Star Pieces that they have in their arsenal.

During these events spawning brings up more Pokémon for players to find. Without spawning players won't be able to find new Pokémon including Shiny Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew. Spawning takes place at random times within the hour that gameplay is on.

With various spawns stretched across the the 1 hour time mark players will be able to get more Pokémon. Each spawn will bring various species both normal and shiny. Of major focus is the Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew which players will be able to find as regular Pokémon or shiny Pokémon.
