Madden 23 is finally here much to the excitement of NFL fans looking to get in amongst the action on EA Sports' latest instalment. The introduction of FieldSense injects a breath of fresh air into the game while the developer aims to simplify certain aspects.

In comparison to the previous Madden titles, there are fewer plays within the playbooks but players are already on the hunt for the best Madden 23 playbooks to get the upper hand over the opposition.

Before we share the best Madden 23 playbooks to use in attacking and defensive scenarios, be sure to check out everything there is to know about Franchise Mode, the top-rated players, and whether the game will make its way to Game Pass.

What are the best Madden 23 playbooks?

With the game cycle in its early stages, players are still attempting to determine the most effective offensive and defensive playbooks to use. However, after doing some of our own experimenting, we've found some early contenders that will allow you to make an impact.

Offensive

In Madden 22, the New England Patriots had some of the strongest offensive playbooks to use and in Madden 23, it appears that the Patriots have some of the best attacking options once again.

Trips TE and Gun Bunch are proving versatile for ground-based and aerial plays.

Additionally, the Detroit Lions are looking like another strong option. With Trips TE, Gun Bunch, and Bunch TE options, there's a high chance the Lions will prove a popular choice.

For attacking playbooks that stray away from the meta and still make an impact on the pitch, the Los Angeles Rams have some solid choices as well. The Singleback Inside Zone move is good to burst down the pitch with your quarterback, though there's always the risk of getting tackled. If you're close to the goal zone, then the passing Y Stick play is handy to give you a range of passing opportunities to get that touchdown. Slants is another good passing play, giving you four diagonal runners to choose from.

Defensive

Preventing the other team from getting anywhere near your endzone is just as important as scoring a high number of touchdowns. Like Madden 22, the Alternate 46 playbook is one of the very best defensive tactics to utilise during a match.

Alongside Alternate 46, the Baltimore Ravens have a variety of plays to take advantage of. The 2-4-5 DBLA Gap, 3-3-5 Cub, and Big Dime 1-4-6 are solid options to rely on.

One particular team currently proving popular for defensive playbooks is the Chicago Bears, with the Dime 1-4-6, 3-3-5 Wide, 3-3-5 Will, and Even 6-1 plays to call on when the opposition is on the move.

The LA Rams are another good choice here, as an 88-rated team. Have a look at their Nickel Blitz 3 move to swamp the quarterback off the snap, often leading to an early sack. The Man Double Buzz is another good one to swarm the pack, often forcing an early pass.

That's all there is to know about the best Madden 23 playbooks. As the cycle progresses and players start to figure out the offensive and defensive meta, we will update the guide with the most effective tactics available to use.
