Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will launch on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC.

With graphical fidelity geared toward current-gen hardware, Warhorse Studios has opted to miss out on Xbox One and PS4 consoles, and with its predecessor experiencing several issues on consoles, skipping the last generation completely is a wise move.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Setting

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is set in 15th Century Bohemia, a city experiencing civil war. Warhorse Studios has aimed to contain plenty of historical accuracy in addition to telling the tales of multiple kings and knights.

Described as a "behemoth of a game," and with two different maps to explore, players can expect a rich experience packed with activities.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Story

As it's a direct sequel, the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 story follows on from Henry, a peasant turned warrior who's ended up in the city of Kuttenberg to continue his story.

Warhorse Studios says players can expect a more cinematic offering packed with plot twists and decisions that will change the course of the story. The developer also reveals the game contains "more than five hours" of cinematic cutscenes in addition to a map that's "twice the size" of the original.

In the previous game, Henry had to deal with small-time politics and local lords. However, this time around, the conflicts Henry must deal with, such as an invading king and the people who are forced to deal with the aftermath of that event, are much more substantial.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Gameplay

The majority of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 takes place from a first-person perspective with third-person cutscenes. The game has several elements typical of an RPG, such as skill trees, interactive NPCs, and more -- but there is no character creation or distinct classes to select.

Thankfully, players can choose to play a specific way. Some may choose the life of a thief, where pickpocketing generates their income, but that doesn't mean you can get away with things, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's crime system will react to your notorious activities. For example, if you choose to become violent, some NPCs may either fight you themselves or go and tell the guards so they can punish you instead.

On the other hand, players can really develop their 'knightly' persona by being charming and helping out others whenever possible. This comes with advantages such as being able to sweet talk their way out of trouble. Regardless of your choices, players will have the ability to shape Henry the way they see fit.

Keeping in line with its predecessor and the studio's aim to stick to historical accuracy, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 stays true in depicting real medieval combat by making sure the combat is hard and heavy, but still accessible to all players.

As far as missile weapons, this time around players will have access to a new type of weapon: crossbows. These are heavy and impactful, and much like the difference between all the weapons in-game, comes with its own pros and cons.
