The start of Season 5 of Warzone and Vanguard is on the horizon. The final season of the Pacific era sees the arrival of numerous villains from Call of Duty history in addition to a wealth of new weaponry for players to unlock. In addition to the Valois Revolver, the EX1 becomes the first energy rifle to appear.
Just like in the previous seasons, players can unlock two weapons by working their way through the new battle pass which also features numerous cosmetic items. With new weapons up for grabs, many are wondering how to unlock the EX1.

Warzone and Vanguard Season 5 start date
Season 5 of Vanguard begins on August 23 at 5PM BST with Season 5 of Warzone kicking off a day later on August 24.
The first chance to unlock the EX1 will be in Vanguard but for those preferring battle royale action, the wait isn't too long.
How to unlock EX1
As one of two weapons making their debuts at the start of the season, the EX1 will feature in the Season 5 battle pass. This means you can unlock it at one of two points. The energy rifle will appear at Tier 15.
This means those that purchase the premium battle pass will have instant access to the rifle as the bundle includes 25 tier skips.
What is the EX1?
Although it uses a battery to fire bursts of energy instead of bullets, the EX1 will appear in the assault rifle category. The EX1 has unlimited ammunition but can overheat meaning you must manage the length of your beams over the course of a match.
A recent Call of Duty blog post suggests that the rifle is "effective at long range" and features "options for every scenario," suggesting players can utilise attachments to suit their style of play.
Whether it manages to make an impact on the Season 5 meta remains to be seen.
Is the EX1 good in Warzone and Vanguard?
As the only energy weapon to appear in Vanguard and Warzone, the EX1 already stands out from the crowd. It's unclear if the rifle acts as a viable option in multiplayer and the battle royale.
