The Captain is one of the core members of your Granblue Fantasy Party. Undoubtedly the best Support character in the game with a variety of buffs for your team and debuffs for your enemies, the Captain is a great addition to most parties. However, many of you might want to remove the Captain from the Party to add your favourites.
Normally, the game will not let you remove the Captain from your Party as they're a mandatory member of the team. However, at a certain point in the game, you're actually free to remove the Captain from your Party and make your favourite team comps for adventuring. Let's find out how.

Can you remove Captain from Party?
The short answer is yes, but it takes a while. You can remove the Captain from your party once you complete the main story. The game doesn't mention that you can remove the Captain but you can do this as soon as you finish the final boss fight of the story in Episode 10.
Once you're done with the main story and start Episode 0, make your way to the Party menu and select the Captain. Replace the Captain with any other character and the game will no longer give you a prompt that prevents this. You're now free to experiment with teams of any four character combinations except when story quests require it (which won't be often anymore).
In fact, you will also be able to repeat all the story chapters with any team of your choosing! So no need to put all your hard-earned Mastery Points into maxing out the Captain if there are other characters you'd rather prefer. Granblue Fantasy Relink's main story does not take long to beat, and you can swap over to a team of your choosing fairly quickly!
