How to activate Link Time and Chain Burst in Granblue Fantasy Relink

Granblue Fantasy Relink has some truly cinematic combat moments both inside and outside of its cutscenes. While you might initially be confused about the combat mechanics you're bombarded with, mastering them provides a sense of satisfaction and an understanding of how the flow of combat needs to go. In our guide, we'll look at how to activate Link Time and Chain Burst; two of the most essential combat techniques.

How does Granblue Fantasy Relink Chain Burst work?

The Chain Burst is activated when two or more characters use their Skybound Arts (SBA) in succession. Your Skybound Art gauge is located under your character's HP on the top left side of the screen.

When it's filled up you can press a single key to unleash a devastating attack. However, the real fun comes when you chain Skybound Arts. If multiple characters unleash their Skybound Arts together, it results in a powerful combination attack called a Chain Burst. The Element of a Chain Burst is always the element of the character who unleashed their SBA first.

You can either give the command for your teammates to hold their SBA or you can let them use it as soon as they have it available. The advantage here is that normally you need to perform combos and skills to charge your SBA meter.

However, another ally character performing a SBA gives your meter a big increase, which is usually enough for the whole team to chain their SBAs and cause a powerful Full Burst. While you can perform a Chain Burst with just two or three characters, it's more powerful if the whole team performs it.

Next up we have another mechanic that might appear as confusing. Link Time is a period in combat where time is slowed down for your enemies and all your characters get various buffs.

Link Time is related to the Link Level which is shown as a percentage on the right side of your screen. Once the Link Level reaches 100%, you can perform a Link Attack to activate Link Time.

A Link Attack can be triggered once you stagger an enemy. To stagger an enemy you need to fill up the blue bar above its head until they are left momentarily vulnerable to a Link Attack. Link Time is an incredibly powerful tool and with all the buffs compounded, makes for some serious thrashing on your enemies.

To raise the Link Level you can perform actions such as:

• Perform Link Attacks
• Perform SBA and Chain Bursts
• Use Blue Potions
• Revive Allies
