How to get dream shards in Disney Dreamlight Valley
So, how do you get one of the most precious materials in all the valley? Well, while rare, there are a few ways you can acquire dream shards, which we've detailed down below.
Clear night thorns
The first of these methods is to clear any night thorns that you come across. These thorns are scattered throughout the world, so you will have a lot to go for. The downside is that the drop rate is pretty low, so it could take some time until you see one of those all-important shards.
Don’t get disheartened, though. Go on a night thorn-breaking rampage and you should get at least some dream shards for your efforts.
Dig up sparkling mounds
The second way to acquire dream shards will involve putting your shovel to work, as there is a way of getting dream shards by digging sparkling mounds. These sparkling spots on the ground can be found in each biome, so do some exploring and you should come across a few.
However, sparkling mounds aren't as abundant in Dreamlight Valley compared to night thorns, which is worth bearing in mind when setting out to get some dream shards. But if you do get your hands dirty, you'll have a chance to pull out two dream shards.
Feed the animals to get dream shards
Finally, and probably the most fun way of getting dream shards since it means you get to make some cute little friends, is to feed animals. The animals are found throughout the valley, and there's a whole host of different species to encounter.

This method isn't as reliable as the previous two techniques, since the contents of these gifts are randomised. Therefore, we don't recommend your primary strategy for dream shard collecting.
