It’s hard to imagine a modern RPG without character customisation and a skills system. The Diablo 4 transmog system is an important part of the game, so we'll go over how to change the appearance of existing skins for your hero.
There is a certain NPC who can help you transmog your equipment in the game. So, let’s find out how to change the skins of your armor pieces.

How does the Diablo 4 transmog system work?
The transmog system is a special feature that allows you to avoid one of the most frustrating situations in RPGs. It’s always disappointing when you find a powerful new helmet that makes your character really strong, and then you realise it looks terrible when you actually equip it. Fortunately, Diablo 4 allows you to change the skin of this helmet.
In order to change the appearance of your armor, follow these steps:
- Go to any city and find a Wardrobe.
- Interact with the Wardrobe.
- The Wardrobe menu will pop up and you will be able to change the skins and colors of your helmet, chest, gloves, boots, and pants (or whatever your character wears in those five slots).
How to unlock new transmog skins in Diablo 4
This is probably the most important question. In order to get new skins for transmog, you will need to salvage your items. Here is how you can do it:
- Open your Inventory.
- Choose the item you want to salvage.
- Select this item and click on the Mark as Junk button.
- Go to the Blacksmith.
- Open the Salvage tab.
- Choose the All Junk option.
After you destroy your item in this way, you will get its skin. This is how the transmog system works, so hopefully this guide helps you make your character look stylish. And while you are here, make sure to check our guide on how to get the Wings of the Creator emote in Diablo 4.
