The Mountaintop is back in Destiny 2

This quest became available during the April 16 weekly reset and gives players two options to complete it:

  • Rapidly defeat combatants using Breech-Loaded grenade launchers anywhere in the system. Bonus progress for rapid final blows in Onslaught
  • Defeat Guardians using grenade launchers

The PvP option is pretty straightforward - simply jump into Crucible with a grenade launcher that uses special ammo and get some kills. You'll need a total of 30.

If you're intimated or simply don't like PvP, the other option is to get kills using Breech-Loaded grenade launchers in PvE, with progress being faster in the Into the Light activity, Onslaught.

We have a guide explaining to you what Breech-Loaded GLs are in Destiny 2 so check that out if that's causing any sort of confusion.

Best way to farm grenade launcher kills in Destiny 2

There are a few hot spots players like to utilise to get a ton of adds (short for additional enemies) in Destiny 2.

Many people default to a specific checkpoint in The Last Wish raid, but my main recommendation would be to either stick with the Onslaught activity or head to the Moon and play the Altars of Sorrow public event. Both are free for all players unlike The Last Wish, which requires you to own the Forsaken pack.

In Onslaught, you'll benefit from the extra progress bonus, but you might find yourself not getting as many kills as you want since the other players may be trying to do their own quests or trying to cruise through the activity as fast as they can.

If you don't mind a bit of extra grind and don't want to feel the pressure of Onslaught, then go to Altars of Sorrow. There's still some decent loot up for grabs in that activity so it's worth checking out.

Harsh Language can get the job done

Finally, we'll give you a few tips on grenade launchers you should use to make your life easier. It's all preference at the end of the day, but sometimes it's just clear which weapons are best for the job.

Generally speaking, any Wave Frame GL is a decent enough pick as these grenade launchers release a wave of energy when they contact the ground.

I also recommend having one with Auto-Loading Holster as a perk and equipping a special ammo finder mod. This will allow you to get into a better cadence of getting kills, swapping to your other weapons generating special ammo, and then going back to your grenade launcher already loaded.

With that said, these are our picks to get the quest done faster:

  • Harsh Language
  • Witherhoard
  • Forbearence
  • Dead Messenger
