How do you get the owlbear cub in Baldur's Gate 3?

Firstly, you'll have to find the owlbear cave during Act 1, as seen in the map below. The nest is found next to the Blighted Village, on the north side of the eastern bridge.

When inside, you'll witness a wounded adult owlbear, as well as her cub. If you want to obtain the cub, you can either kill its mother or leave them in peace. Heartlessly slaughtering the adult owlbear weirdly won't prevent you from obtaining the owlbear cub later down the line, as we outline in our guide on the whether you should kill the adult owlbear.

How to rescue the owlbear cub from the goblins

After your first encounter with the cub, you'll likely encounter it next at the Goblin Camp. Its mother is nowhere to be seen, having been slain by the goblins.

There are two ways you can rescue the owlbear cub from the goblins. The first way is by speaking to the goblin Krolla, who can be found near the stage where Volo performs.

There are numerous ways to persuade Krolla into giving you the cub, by utilising persuasion, intimidation, or illithid powers to influence her. Speaking to the owlbear cub will allow you to give it your scent, and it will later join you in camp.

The other way in which you can rescue the owlbear cub is by killing all of the goblins and other followers of the Absolute in the Goblin Camp. Either of these methods will free the owlbear cub, allowing them to join your camp.

Once the owlbear cub has joined your camp, try casting "Speak With Animals", to get to know the cub a little bit better!
