Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - Ancestor and Apex skills guide

Like other Ubisoft games, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora introduces skills for you to acquire as you progress. The best of these are called Ancestor skills and Apex skills, and they offer some interesting upgrades for your Na’vi.

Here, we’ll break down what these skills are and the differences between the two so you’re aware of how they work. We’ll also go into how to get your hands on them so you're not confused about the method of unlocking them.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Ancestor skills and Apex skills explained

As we’ve stated already, there are two sets of high-tier skills available in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and each provides different benefits to your character.

Apex skills, also known as Apex memories, are the pinnacle of your upgrading, and they can be found right at the top of the various skill trees. These offer up unique additions to your abilities such as Powerful Shots, which disorients targets.

To get these Apex memories, however, you’ll have to do a bunch of work. You first have to unlock all of the skills in the relevant tree and then complete an Apex Challenge. Therefore, you’ll have to rack up a huge number of skill points to even get the chance to get your hands on one of these memories.

Ancestor skills, on the other hand, are raw abilities that offer some really powerful upgrades for your Na’vi. The first you will receive enables a double jump, which extends your aerial ability even more.

To get your hands on these Ancestor skills, you have to seek out the Sarentu to acquire them, rather than go down the skill point route. While these are rare and harder to locate, you won’t need to do as much grinding as Apex skills. But they could be story-locked to a point.

So it is definitely in your best interest to seek out as many Sarentu as you can to acquire skill points and ultimately gain as many new abilities as possible. This will enable a plethora of benefits to your gameplay. From increasing survivability to providing extra traversal methods, your character will be that much more powerful.
