GTA Online: How to fix 'Files Required' Error Message


We’re all still waiting for GTA 6 to come and be the greatest open-world game ever made but until that happens, fans have been happy with GTA 5 and GTA Online thanks to numerous updates that have made the game lively, with features you won’t be seeing on the single-player campaign, which still offers a ton of things for you to do.

Though playing GTA Online is a fun and addicting time, especially when you’re in the mood for races or heisting, you can imagine the heartbreak that can be had when an error comes as you’re trying to play the game, with many players getting bummed about the ‘files required’ error that prevents players from playing, usually due to an upcoming update or two.

How To Fix GTA Online 'Files Required' Error Message

Fans will be happy to know that there is a way to overcome the GTA Online ‘files required’ bug, though it’s a bit complicated since it differs from PC to console.

Still, fans have a way to overcome the ‘files required’ mess and continue playing with their friends, especially since more updates are likely.

PC players will be able to overcome this by heading to their firewall to see if GTA.5.exe has been blocked and unblocking it to make the game playable again.

On PS4 and Xbox One you have to reconfigure the console’s network DNS to make GTA Online playable again.

Make the primary DNS 84.200.69.80, while the secondary DNS should be 84.200.70.40, which is fairly easy to do if you’re used to your console.

GTA 5 and GTA Online are now available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
